Background

I have mainly worked with SME’S since qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. My journey started in the 1980’s when I left Ireland during the 1980 recession and worked in the UK in industry. I had an ambition to run my own business and set up in Oxford as a sole trader offering a wide range of accounting services.  I returned to Ireland in 2005 and the 2008 recession followed. The recession combined with my interest in the debt crisis led to me setting up Firm Advice in 2013.

This business provides two main services:

(1). Business Advisory – Assisting owner managers with the financial management of their businesses.

(2) Personal Insolvency – Supporting people who are in financial difficulty due to the downturn to enter into sustainable solutions with their creditors.

It was at this time that Personal Insolvency Act 2012 was enacted which is a piece of legislation that set out a formal mechanism to address the debt crisis. Personal Insolvency Practitioners (PIP’s) are authorised to act as intermediaries between the client and the bank to facilitate the workings of the legislation. I was approved as a PIP and have helped and assisted numerous people to return to financial solvency. I am passionate about people’s financial wellbeing having seen so much suffering over the past 6 years.

I am also authorised by the Insolvency Service of Ireland to carry on practice as a personal insolvency practitioner. I am ready to continue to support people and businesses who have been affected financially by COVID-19.
